Blending old-school hip-hop with new-school style, this Philadelphia based group ignited love of the form in Belarus, Russia, and Ukraine.
ABOUT THE RESIDENCY
Founded in 2000 by Brandon “Peace” Albright, Illstyle & Peace Productions spread the message of “peace, love, and respect for everyone” through hip-hop dance and music on their Eastern European tour. In Ukraine, the company performed in airplane hangars, orphanages, and on local television. In Belarus, they led classes for wheelchair-bound students and children with Down syndrome. And in Russia, they continued to build community through workshops, performances, and social media.
